Blossoming in Fall

I have been neglecting my blog. I fine when I travel I have more an urge to update it, but sometimes forget to write down my life in my homebase.

October saw me finally going to New York City. How badly I have been wanting to go to that city. Since I was a little boy I just enjoyed all the things I heard, the Brooklyn Bridge, the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty. Sites that I made sure I saw. I even got my 200 hour Yoga teacher training in Guatemala through a studio based in NYC. So going to Reflections Yoga while there was at the top of my list. Practice at the home base, what a beautiful space it. I'm so proud to be a part of the family there.
My sister and her boyfriend Myke had also planned a trip to NYC for fun, and for a good friend's wedding upstate. Friday after getting in from my flight saw me heading down to Time Square to meet with her, and then embarked on a fun night on the town. The next day we met up and walked around in Central Park. It was great to finally have the experience to be outside of the country with my sister. We are close siblings but have many differences that have built walls in our relationship, but we are both putting great effort to break them down, and I think this trip without a doubt brought us closer.

On Sunday I had a great walk from 106th street to Battery Park, where I took a nap that is on my list of top 3 naps in my life so far. It was about 23 degrees out, sun beating down, and lady liberty was across the Hudson River from me. Just one of those naps that just fit perfect into the day. After that I took an anti-gravity yoga class. It was really interesting. Think of the arielists in Cirque de Soleil. It's that but yoga and using the material as hammocks about 3 feet off the ground. 80% of the class you are off the ground. Svanasana was amazing as you were suspended lying in a coccon. It had me really feeling my body in a different way then yoga and dance.

This fall I have dedicated myself to deepening my practice. What I have found and created in myself has been absolute freedom. I'm finding space and strength like I have never found before. I believe it is not coming from my physical ability, but from the work within myself and my asana is just a pure reflection of it. The flow and alignment in each pose just allows me to feel so expansive. I feel that taking time off from teaching yoga and working on myself was a decision that is coming with great benefits, but I am defiantly ready to slowly began teaching again. As a natural educator I know teaching is where I can learn so much, and I love having the ability to share my knowledge and help people grow.
