Restorative

This weekend I embarked on my Restorative Yoga Teacher Training (RYTT). I first discovered restorative yoga about about 3 years ago. My sister started practicing it, due to some health concerns. I decided to try one class to understand the type of yoga she was exploring, and enjoyed it. At the time though I was deep in a Hatha and Ashtanga practice, so it didn't really appeal to me as continual practice. But it kept coming back in my life. My dear friend Tasha, (who is also a yoga instructor) took her RYTT and talked so much of the benefits, I took a class with her Restorative teacher, who after became my meditation instructor, Sachne Kilner. The universe did not align for me to have her as my Restorative teacher. I decided to take my training with Hali Schwartz. This weekend was such a wealth of information as well as great review of yoga philosophy. Many people always ask "What is restorative yoga?" In my understanding it is an approach to yoga asana to allow many people who do not have a fit and active body to enjoy yoga in away that will improve their body, mind and overall well being. As well as really include those that want a low impact, more meditative way to stretch the body.

Hali has put together such a well structured course. I also really respond to her way of teaching. I'm thankful to consider myself a student of hers. As I have been hearing of her, and wanting to take course under for some time. Karusia Wroblewski will be teaching 5 hours of the course. I took a few classes with her in the first few years of my practice, but seem never to get back to one of her classes. She will be teaching about restorative anatomy and dealing with injuries. This has been a topic I have been wanting to study. I find as a Hatha Yoga instructor I know how to manipulate the body that is more athletic body, or at least willing body. As well how to isolate an injury in an asana class. I always got frustrated that I haven't gained the knowledge of this topic. So I really glad there is a detailed portion of the course dedicated to this topic.

Whenever I am in these teacher training or long workshops, I feel so comfortable and at home. There just this sense of being so content in what I'm doing and learning. I just know Yoga is something that will be with me for the rest of my life. As well its something I am suppose share with the world by spreading the knowledge I learn about it. Such a degree of satisfaction is gained.
