New Year!

Wow, I can't believe I haven't made an entry since 2010.
2011 has been an absolutely amazing year so far. I brought the year in by doing a 3 hour yoga workshop guide by a dear friend and fellow yoga instructor Josie Houpt. She is so talent and wonderful, and glad to call her a friend.
The first 2 weeks of the 2011 saw me finishing up my year 1/2 contract as a full time outdoor educator at Forest Valley. I am so proud of myself for completely the commitment, and so glad to be apart of that family and bring outdoor education to so many city kids. I will continue to be a supply there as long as I am in Toronto and have availability in my yoga teaching schedule. Coming into my 2nd year as a yoga instructor I have decided to take the leap of faith into teaching yoga full time. So far it is working out. I am signed on at 3 different yoga studios and have wonderful couple I teach a private class too. I have interviews and networking at many other places to begin teaching. It is all so excited. It truly feels like the right thing to do.

I have also recently adopted a 6 month kitten, Tessa-Shanti Muszka. She is such a sweet heart. But sadly due to her stressful months she contracted the cat flu which is an upper respiratory virus. Luckily, I got 6 weeks free pet insurance, but have decided to keep paying the insurance.

At the end of November I decided to move out on my own, the apartment I found was great, besides having a shared bathroom and being right on Dufferin St. I a woke on Saturday morning to the bathroom covered in throw-up, all over the place. If you know me well you know I come from a line of clean freaks. I could not leave the mess, even though it was not made by me, but the guy who lives in the apartment besides me with an adjoining door to the bathroom. It has been 4 days and I have yet to receive a thank your, or an apology for the mess. When I saw it was everywhere, it was everywhere, with a clogged toilet. I realized that a) I am not someones mother (especially to someone who is the same age as me, and b) that clearly this wasn't the smartest decision. I just really needed to move from my shared apartment. My friend who was in charge of the lease, kept bring in new people to fill the rooms, including the living room. Only kitchen was left for a place to hang. As well I felt like I alienated myself, I could not share my passion of yoga with the roommates, as they were to concerned with being young and partying.

So I was left in situation, but luckily my friend Fontane who over the past 3 years has blossomed into a beautiful and dedicated yogini. We have decided to find a space together where we can support each other in life and in our yoga practice. She has a goal to become a yoga teacher a long side her current job. It feels right. It feels like alignment. I enjoy having my own space, but I realized I missed the community of a roommate, and a lively home. I feel that with Fontane, we can create that. We have similar interests, and we have also know each other and have stayed in contact for over 10 years. I don't feel awkward around her, and communicate always seems to flow when we are together. We can created a mutual respect for the space, as well as have the right amount of space between each other. So we will see what happens with this endeavour.

I embark on an exciting weekend. A weekend studying with Douglas Brooks a Tantric Yoga scholar. I am spending the weekend in Burlington with dear yoga friends from a studio I work at, Kula:The Annex. I am so grateful to have this opportunity to truly bond with some many amazing people, and truly explore the philosophy of the subtle body.

I will definitely share my thoughts and growth from weekend on here. I plan on being for consistent with my entries this year.
