Weekend Wondering

Spending the a week here are group has just naturally decided to do different things, sometimes not seeing each other till dinner. Stef and I hike the 4km to Dal Lake and the Tibetan Children Village. It was such a beautiful and relaxing hike often as usual being engulfed by a cloud. The forest would become this misty emerald green, with lichen and ferns growing all over the trunks and branches. We stopped at the Tibetan Children Village show room, having all stuffed made by volunteers in the organizations, some being older children and teenager, as well as adults. Obviously, I got couple things as all proceeds go to the organization.
The Tibetan Children Village mission is to ensure that all Tibetan children under its care receive a sound education, a firm cultural identity and become self-reliant and contributing members of the Tibetan community and the world at large.

GOALS OF TCV
Provide parental care and love
Develop a sound understanding of Tibetan identity and culture
Develop character and moral values
Provide effective modern and Tibetan education
Provide child -centered learning atmosphere in the schools
Provide environment for physical and intellectual growth
Provide suitable and effective life and career guidance for social and citizenship skills.

The organization is 49 years old.

We met a Korean and Russian travelers, met up with Winston and saw a Tibetan children concert by an organization. It was call Hope Day. It was such a funny and great concert mixed with traditional Tibetan singing/dancing, and english songs. Performed by both children and adults. It was wonderful to experience all the joy that these people. Leaving their country, being in exile and creating new life in India while keeping their culture, religon and language alive.

Our trip once again is transforming and we are in talks of staying here in McLeod Ganj for a while longer. Do some more volunteering. Obviously, this changes my intention for the trip, to study yoga. But ten I realize that yoga is the study of creating sacred union with world. A big thing I have realized is although it is important to focus inwards and delve into yourself and explore yourself and see your darkness. But I feel it is in exploring the external that is what brings us the union. When we can share, learn and educate those that are seperate, our union is sewn together. I find lately going within almost seperares me from those around me, thus my sparked interest to go back to academia.

I'll be back to tell our new plans.
