Waking up now at 7 am. . . not sure if I am jet lagged. I went to bed at 11:30pm last night. I got back home in Toronto at 2pm. After having Mac (Kristina's boyfriend) pick us up at the Buffalo airport, and having a good old fashion Canadian breakfast of french toast and home fries in Niagara Falls. The flight home was great, no turbulence and slept a whole lot.
The last day in Delhi was great, after taking a great train ride back from Gaya (a town outside of Bodhgaya) 12 hours in a super nice air conditioned sleeper cabin we were in crazy Delhi again. Almost like I never left. We took 3AC cabin to Delhi, which is a higher "class" then our other sleeper we took to Varanasi. We got our own fresh sheets, pillows, free breakfast and chai, as well a safer cabin for our bags.
Delhi has changed from when we were there before. The Commonwealth Games are in October and the city is preparing for it, basically from tearing everything a part and rebuilding. However, they are behind schedule, with much controversy in its planning. But the area known as Pahar Ganj/Main Bazaar was a before just crumbling mess when I arrived at the beginning of the trip. The road was more crumbs of buildings/street then a road. This time however 3/4 of the long well known and touristy road was paved making the vibe in the street a little more welcoming, safer and even though the buildings were still being worked on (more construction then building) the street in comparison to my first visit was significantly nicer.
We spent the day doing some last minute errands at the main New Delhi shopping district of Connaught Place, a well know and famous area for New Delhi, now a construction mess. We then decided to check out the Red Fort, which we didn't get to see our first time in Delhi. A huge red wall, surrounding a little covered bazaar, a series of ancient Mogul empire temple like buildings, and tons of old British artillery buildings and houses. Then we took a stroll to Old Delhi, where one of the largest Mosques in India exist. . .but now running out of rupees, we didn't go passed the gate for the foreigner rate was 200 rupees. Then heading back to New Delhi to meet a friend for dinner, take our last cold shower to attempt to make us sweat less for the taxi to the airport. . .obviously only an attempt.
Reflecting back on the trip is like looking back at a mirror with a thousand different faces. So many wonderful experiences happened. So many great lessons appeared for me. I was revealed many great transformation. Now being back, I am just observing myself, and not seeking for what was learnt and how I've "changed", but simply just feeling myself, the lessons and how the next chapters of my book of life are going to unfold.
*** Photos will be up hopefully within a month. I'm heading to work at camp for the next week so hopefully I will have time to work on them there. Check facebook, and my website www.wix.com/cmuszkie/cmuszkie for them.
